A tcf canada preparation course built around your target CLB band

TCF Canada is accepted by IRCC for Express Entry and by Quebec for its own programmes. Like TEF, it returns a band, and the band is the whole point.

Who this is for

Is this the right course for you?

Express Entry candidates, Quebec immigration applicants, and anyone whose test centre offers TCF sittings sooner than TEF ones.

What you cover

Inside the TCF Canada course

  • The four sections and how TCF scores convert to CLB levels
  • Which band your profile needs, established before lesson planning
  • Expression écrite: all three tasks and their distinct requirements
  • Expression orale: the three parts, timed, with recorded review
  • Compréhension orale and écrite under exam conditions
  • Two full timed mock papers with band-level feedback

TCF Canada is the other IRCC-accepted French test, and in practice most candidates choose between it and TEF on availability rather than on any real difference in difficulty.

Expression écrite has three distinct tasks

They test different things — a short message, a structured account, and a comparative argument — and candidates who prepare them as one skill underperform on at least one. Each is practised separately here.

Validity and timing

Results expire. Sitting the test at the right point in your application timeline matters as much as the band you get, and it is worth planning backwards from the deadline before booking.

TCF Canada questions, answered properly

Is TCF easier than TEF?

Candidates often describe TCF listening as slightly more approachable and TEF writing as more predictable, but this varies enough by individual that it is a weak basis for choosing. Both are accepted by IRCC and both convert to CLB. Sitting availability before your deadline is a far more reliable deciding factor than reported difficulty.

Is TCF Canada accepted for Quebec immigration?

TCF is used in Quebec programmes as well as federal ones, though Quebec runs its own selection system with its own French requirements and its own accepted tests. Confirm the current list with the Quebec immigration ministry, since the federal and provincial requirements are set separately and have differed before.

How long is a TCF result valid?

TCF Canada results are typically valid for two years, and IRCC requires your language result to be valid at the point of application and, in some cases, at invitation. Plan the sitting against your application timeline rather than taking it as early as possible, or you may have to sit it twice.
