Online English lessons

An online English tutor for the exam, the interview or the ward

General English lessons are everywhere and mostly interchangeable. What is harder to find is a tutor who knows the OET marking criteria or can run a real interview rehearsal.

Why learn here

What you get that a marketplace will not give you

We are specific about what we are good at

For general conversation practice at the lowest possible price, a marketplace will beat us and we will say so. Where we earn the fee is a named exam with published criteria, a professional register, or a high-stakes interview you get one attempt at.

OET is a clinical exam, not an English exam

OET tests whether a nurse or doctor can work safely in English — take a history, explain a treatment, write a referral letter. Preparing with general IELTS materials is the most common reason candidates fail it, and the two are not interchangeable.

The speaking band is a technique problem

Most candidates who are stuck at IELTS 6.5 do not have a vocabulary problem. They have a fluency, coherence and development problem, and those are teachable in a way that memorising word lists is not. We diagnose which band descriptor is holding you back.

Interview rehearsal with real feedback

Practising answers alone builds confidence in the wrong things. A tutor who interrupts, follows up and pushes back reproduces the actual pressure, then tells you which answers landed and which were three sentences too long.

Levels we teach

From the first lesson to working in English

English is spoken by about 1.5 billion people. These are the CEFR levels we teach it at, and what each one actually lets you do.

A2

Everyday English

Routine exchanges, past and future tenses, and enough range to manage day-to-day life without rehearsing every sentence.

B1

Independent use

Conversation on familiar topics, structured short writing, and following normal-speed speech with occasional gaps.

B2

Cambridge B2 First, IELTS 5.5–6.5

Argument, abstraction and workplace correspondence. The level most universities and skilled visa routes reference.

C1

IELTS 7+, Cambridge C1 Advanced

Extended argument, nuance, and register control under pressure. The band competitive university and professional applications require.

C2

Near-total command

Precision, idiom and subtlety across academic, professional and social registers.

English questions, answered properly

Should I take IELTS, PTE or the Duolingo English Test?

Check what your university, employer or immigration authority accepts before anything else, because that decides it. IELTS is the most widely recognised and has a face-to-face speaking test. PTE is computer-scored with fast results and suits candidates who prefer a predictable format. The Duolingo English Test is cheaper and quicker but is accepted by fewer institutions. Send us the requirement and we will tell you which to prepare for.

What is OET and how is it different from IELTS?

OET is an English test for healthcare professionals, with separate versions for nursing, medicine, pharmacy and ten other professions. Every task is clinical — a patient consultation, a referral letter, a case note. IELTS is general academic English. Both are accepted by the NMC and many regulators, but OET candidates who prepare with IELTS materials routinely underperform on the writing and speaking sections.

How do I move from IELTS 6.5 to 7.5?

Usually by fixing one or two specific band descriptors rather than studying more English. In speaking, that is often coherence and the ability to develop an answer past two sentences. In writing, it is usually task response — answering the question actually asked rather than the topic in general. A tutor who marks against the public descriptors can identify which of the four is costing you the half band.

Do you teach English for job interviews?

Yes, and it is one of the more useful things we do. It covers structuring an answer, handling the questions people freeze on, talking about your own work without either minimising or overselling it, and the specific register of a professional interview in English. Sessions are run as rehearsals with follow-up questions rather than as scripted practice.

Are your English tutors native speakers?

Some are, and some are highly qualified non-native teachers, several of whom are better exam coaches because they have sat these tests themselves. For OET, IELTS and Cambridge preparation the qualification that matters is examiner or teaching certification, not birth country. Every tutor's credentials and the issuing body are on their profile.

Who teaches you

Your English tutor

No tutor profile is published for English yet. We will not put up a card with a stock photograph and a first name — if you are going to hand someone your Tuesday evenings, you should be able to see their name, their face and the body that issued their qualification.

Lessons are running. Message us on WhatsApp and we will tell you who is currently teaching English, what they are qualified in, and when they are free. You will find an English tutor listed here as soon as their paperwork is verified.
