One-to-one online language lessons, built around your deadline

Almost everyone who books here is learning for something specific — an exam with a date on it, a move, a job, a text they want to read. We start from that, not from a syllabus.

What we are good at

Four things the big platforms handle badly

Arabic by dialect, not as one subject

Egyptian, Levantine, Gulf, Darija and Modern Standard are taught separately, by people who speak them. Most platforms list one subject called Arabic and leave you to find out four lessons in.

Nordic exams almost nobody prepares for

Norskprøve, Bergenstest, SFI, Swedex and TISUS. The tutor supply for these is genuinely thin, the deadlines are real, and the exams have specific ways of failing candidates.

Exam prep where the certificate is named

Goethe, telc, TestDaF, DELF, TEF Canada, JLPT, IELTS, OET. We check which certificate your employer or visa office actually accepts before planning a single lesson.

Languages the marketplaces barely stock

Persian and Dari, and Scottish Gaelic for everyone the Duolingo tree left mid-air. Small audiences, highly motivated, and very little competition for a tutor who turns up.

How we work

How it works, in four steps

  1. Tell us what the lesson is for

An exam with a date, a move, a job, a text you want to read. The reason changes the plan more than the language does.

  2. We match you with a tutor

Right language, right variety, right specialism, and a timezone that works for you rather than one you have to get up at 5am for.

  3. Take a free 30-minute trial

A real lesson, not a sales call. The tutor works out where you actually are, which is usually not where a self-assessment puts you.

  4. Book lessons that suit your week

Move or cancel up to 12 hours before without losing the lesson. No subscription and no minimum term.

Before you book

Where we are not the right choice

If you want the cheapest possible conversation practice, a marketplace with thousands of tutors will beat us on price and we will not pretend otherwise. If you want an app that promises fluency in fifteen minutes a day, that is not what this is either. What we are good at is a specific requirement with a deadline attached — and if we cannot meet yours, we will say so in the trial lesson rather than after you have paid.

Questions people ask before booking

How is this different from Preply or italki?

Marketplaces are a directory: thousands of tutors, a search box, and the judgement is yours. That works well if you know exactly what you need and want the lowest price. We are smaller and we make the match ourselves, which matters most when the requirement is specific — a named exam, a particular dialect, or a clinical vocabulary. If all you want is cheap conversation practice, a marketplace will beat us on price.

What happens in the free trial lesson?

You meet the tutor for 30 minutes and have an actual lesson, not a sales call. They will find out what you already know, which is usually different from what you think you know, and ask what the language is for. At the end you both decide whether to carry on. Nobody asks for card details to book it.

Can I take lessons in my own timezone?

Yes, and it is worth saying up front, because it is where a lot of online tutoring quietly falls apart. Tutors are in several countries, so evening and early-morning slots exist for most languages. Tell us the hours that genuinely work in your week and we will match you to someone whose availability overlaps, rather than to whoever is free first.

What if I do not like my tutor?

Tell us and we will move you, without an argument and without charging you for the switch. Teaching is a personal fit as much as a technical one, and a tutor who is excellent for one student can be wrong for another. It is far better to change in week two than to quietly stop booking in month three.

Do you teach children?

For Arabic, yes — there is a course written for children rather than a shortened adult one. For the other languages we currently focus on adults with a concrete reason for learning, and we would rather tell you that than take a booking we cannot serve well. Ask us and we will say honestly whether we can help.
