Business english lessons online, worked on your own emails and meetings

Generic business English courses teach the vocabulary of a company that does not exist. Bring the emails you have to write and the meeting you are dreading.

  • CEFR B1

Who this is for

Is this the right course for you?

Professionals at roughly B1 or above who work in English and need to be credible rather than merely understood.

What you cover

What the lessons cover

  • Meetings: chairing, interrupting, disagreeing and summarising
  • Presentations and the question-and-answer session that follows
  • Email register: directness, hedging and what tone actually lands
  • Negotiation language, including how to say no politely
  • Video calls, where accents and audio quality compound each other
  • Small talk, which is a professional skill and rarely taught as one

Business English here is a register and confidence course for people already working in English. The measure of success is not a certificate; it is whether Monday’s meeting goes better.

Your material, not a coursebook’s

The most productive version of this course runs on your actual documents. Generic scenarios produce generic language. Your inbox produces the language you need.

Saying difficult things

Disagreeing, declining, chasing a late deliverable, raising a problem with someone senior. These are where non-native professionals most often either soften into vagueness or land harder than intended, and they are practised explicitly.

Business English questions, answered properly

What level do I need for business English lessons?

Roughly B1. Below that, professional register on top of unstable grammar produces writing that is elaborate and wrong. If you are not there yet we will say so in the trial lesson and suggest general English first, which is usually three to six months before this course is worth the money.

Can we work on my actual emails and presentations?

Yes, and it is by far the most effective way to run these lessons. Real material builds the vocabulary you will use next week rather than the vocabulary a coursebook imagines. Bring anonymised documents if there is anything commercially sensitive in them — that is normal and easy to work around.

Is small talk really worth lesson time?

More than most people expect. The five minutes before a meeting starts is where working relationships are built, and it is the part non-native speakers most often find exposing because it is unstructured and culturally loaded. It is entirely teachable, and it changes how colleagues perceive your English.
