Who this is for
Is this the right course for you?
Students and professionals who want a permanent English qualification, and candidates whose school or employer has named the Cambridge exams specifically.
What you cover
Inside the B2 First (FCE) course
- All four papers and how the overall grade is calculated

- Writing: the essay and the second-part options
- The paired speaking test, rehearsed with a real partner
- Listening across accents and registers
- Two full timed mock papers with written feedback
Cambridge B2 First, still widely called FCE, is a level-based exam rather than a scored test: you pass at B2 and hold the certificate permanently.
Use of English
The paper with the fearsome reputation, and deservedly. It rewards precision — key word transformations have one correct answer and near-misses score zero. It also responds better to systematic practice than any other part of the exam.
The paired speaking test
You are examined with another candidate and assessed partly on interaction. Candidates who talk over their partner or who go silent both lose marks. This is rehearsed, not just explained.
B2 First (FCE) questions, answered properly
Does the Cambridge B2 First certificate expire?
No. Cambridge English qualifications do not expire, which is their main advantage over IELTS and similar tests. Some institutions apply their own recency rules regardless — a university may ask for evidence from the last two years — so check the requirement, but the certificate itself is permanent.
What is the Use of English paper and why is it hard?
It tests grammar and vocabulary precisely rather than communicatively — key word transformations, word formation, open cloze. There is usually exactly one right answer, so approximate knowledge scores nothing. It rewards systematic practice more than any other part of the exam, and it is where most candidates gain the fastest marks.
Should I take B2 First or IELTS?
B2 First if you want a permanent certificate at a known level and your institution accepts Cambridge exams. IELTS if you need a band score for immigration or for an institution that specifies it. Cambridge exams also tell you clearly whether you passed at the level, which some candidates find more useful than a band.
