Swedex exam preparation for a Swedish certificate employers recognise

Swedex is an international Swedish certificate at A2, B1 and B2. It is independent of the SFI system, which makes it the practical option for proving your level to an employer.

Who this is for

Is this the right course for you?

Professionals who need documented Swedish for an employer or an application, and learners outside Sweden who have no access to the SFI system.

What you cover

Inside the Swedex B2 course

  • The Swedex format at your target level, section by section
  • Listening at exam speed with the distractors explained
  • Written production: the text types and the marking criteria
  • The oral examination, rehearsed unscripted
  • Grammar targeted at the gaps a diagnostic finds, not a full syllabus
  • Timed mock papers with written feedback

Swedex is the international Swedish proficiency certificate, offered at A2, B1 and B2 and aligned to the Common European Framework. It sits outside the municipal SFI system, which makes it the practical choice for learners abroad and for anyone who needs a portable certificate.

Placement first

The most expensive mistake with Swedex is sitting the wrong level. The trial lesson includes a placement so the course targets the paper you should actually be taking.

What preparation looks like

Diagnostic first, then targeted grammar rather than a full syllabus, then format familiarity and timed practice. Most candidates arriving with a genuine B1 do not need to be retaught Swedish; they need to be shown the exam and given honest marking.

Swedex B2 questions, answered properly

Is Swedex recognised by employers?

It is an established international certificate developed by Folkuniversitetet and aligned to the CEFR, and it is widely accepted as evidence of general Swedish proficiency. It is not the route into Swedish universities — that is TISUS — and it is not part of the SFI system. For proving a working level of Swedish to an employer, it does the job.

Which Swedex level should I take?

B1 if you want to show you can function independently in everyday and routine work situations; B2 if a Swedish-speaking workplace is the goal. A2 is available and rarely worth the fee unless something specific asks for it. The trial lesson includes a placement so you are not preparing for the wrong paper.

How long does Swedex B2 preparation take?

From a solid B1, four to six months at two lessons a week is typical. From A2, closer to a year. Swedish is a fast language for English speakers, and the main constraint is usually speaking confidence and written structure rather than vocabulary or grammar.
