telc Deutsch B2 is the workplace-facing B2 certificate in Germany and, for many regulated roles, the one named in the requirement. Choosing between it and the Goethe exam is a question of who is asking rather than of quality.
Where the marks go
As at every B2, written production decides most results. The telc criteria are published, and preparation here means writing to them weekly, being marked honestly, and rewriting.

telc B2 Beruf is a separate paper with a professional focus. It is worth checking the exact wording of your requirement, because preparing for the general paper and sitting the Beruf one is an avoidable and expensive mistake.

Should I take telc B2 or Goethe B2?
Whichever your employer, university or regulator names. Both certify B2 and both are widely recognised in Germany. If nobody has specified, choose on practical grounds — sitting availability near you, and which format suits you after seeing a past paper of each. We can show you both in the trial lesson.
What is telc B2 Beruf?
A workplace-focused variant of telc B2, aimed at professional communication rather than general German. It is used by some employers and vocational routes. If your requirement names Beruf specifically, tell us, because the task types and vocabulary differ from the general B2 paper and preparation should follow the right one.
How long does telc B2 preparation take from B1?
Six to twelve months at two lessons a week with consistent homework. Candidates who already work in a German-speaking environment often move faster, because the exam rewards the kind of extended, structured language that daily professional use builds.
