FAQ

Learning Japanese online — FAQ

How long does it take to learn Japanese?

Japanese takes longer than European languages for English speakers, but with consistent 1-on-1 lessons many learners reach a solid beginner–intermediate level (around JLPT N4–N3) within a year. The writing systems are the main early hurdle, and a tutor makes them far easier.

Do I need to learn kanji to speak Japanese?

To speak and understand everyday Japanese you mainly need the kana (hiragana and katakana), which we teach first. Kanji matters for reading — we introduce it gradually so it never feels overwhelming.

Do you prepare students for the JLPT?

Yes. We offer online JLPT preparation across all levels (N5 to N1), structuring lessons around the vocabulary, grammar, reading and listening each level tests.
